IMS Evolve attends Dell EMC IoT Labs Visit 2017

IMS Evolve is proud to have taken part in the Dell EMC IoT Labs Event in Limerick last month, as part of an insightful roster of speakers on the latest IoT technology.

Influencers came from across EMEA to hear the latest from Dell EMC and its customers, partners and other strategically aligned businesses, on how IoT is helping organisations transform their operations, reinforced by demonstrations and a tour of the IoT lab.

As a partner, IMS Evolve had the opportunity to present to press attendees and analysts, detailing how the IMS Evolve solution is tackling problems and improving efficiencies within the temperate-controlled supply chain. CCO, Jason Kay, led the presentation, explaining how IoT holds the potential to dramatically reduce the amount of food wasted within the global supply chain.

Enough food is currently grown on the planet to feed 12 billion people, but as it stands we can barely feed 6 billion due to the vast amount of food waste inherent within the food supply chain, meaning this industry is around 50% inefficient. Through integration of an IoT layer, enabling digitisation of the supply chain infrastructure, real time visibility can be leveraged to identify areas of waste and inefficiencies. Through new processes and automation, these issues can be addressed and risk of waste identified and mitigated at each stage.

Commenting on our solution, we were delighted with the feedback from Dermot O’Connell, vice president, OEM and IoT, Dell EMC EMEA (pictured), who said: “It’s always inspiring to hear first-hand from our partners how they’re using IoT technology to make a mark on the world.  The story from IMS Evolve is even more impactful because it goes beyond answering customer needs to have a real effect on sustaining the world we live in.  In a time when so many go hungry, food waste is an issue that cannot be ignored and we’re pleased to be able to work with IMS Evolve to take a small step toward reducing the amount of food wasted within the global supply chain.”

The event also provided us with the chance to speak about these benefits with attendees on a one to one basis, which led to an interview with Irish Tech News that can be found here, and articles featured on IoT Now and TechCentral. Within these, Jason details how the IMS Evolve solution is helping to integrate the supply chain and prevent the looming food waste crisis that the UN has predicted will hit by 2050.

The Dell EMC IoT Labs Event highlighted the proven technologies and results being achieved today within the Dell IoT Partner Ecosystem. It left us even more excited for the Dell EMC Forum that took place in New York on the 11th October, which we’ll be telling you about in our next blog.
