From international PR campaigns to stateside tradeshow events, our Marketing, Communications and Channel Development Manager, Jasmine Sampson, explains what it's like to manage a global tech brand.

Jasmine joined IMS Evolve in 2015, when the company was going through a period of accelerated growth. Jasmine was hired initially as a Marketing Executive, tasked with raising awareness, supporting the drive for new business and shaping the message and tone of the IMS Evolve brand.

Jasmine knew this role would be challenging – she had to build a successful marketing program from scratch in an entirely new (and very technical) industry.

“The prospect was daunting, but the opportunity to build and shape a role in a fast-growing technology company made me keen to take on the challenge.”

Talking about her previous roles, Jasmine explains the path that led to IMS Evolve:

“I began my career in newspaper advertising sales and then moved to an independent Marketing Agency where I assisted with a broad range of marketing campaigns across various industries. Working agency-side exposed me to a variety of marketing activities and approaches that proved exceedingly valuable.”

After just over a year at IMS as Marketing Executive, Jasmine was promoted to Marketing Manager after successfully managing content, brand, digital marketing, PR and industry events.

“Within the first two years of working for IMS Evolve, I had the opportunity to travel to New York, Vegas and Texas alongside our Technology Partner, Dell. Manning our IMS booth at tradeshow events meant I was able to talk to a wide range of people about the IMS solution, and these trips provided the opportunity to learn about the industry, build valuable relationships, and promote our offering.”

In 2018, Jasmine was promoted to Marketing, Communications and Channel Development Manager to support the comprehensive global channel partner strategy. Jasmine took on the additional responsibility of onboarding partners, as well as creating the necessary tools to effectively educate and enable the channel activities whilst building and maintaining successful partner relationships. With the increasing and evolving demand from the business, Jasmine was given the green light to expand her team, and hired Graphic Design and Marketing Executive, Kate Sharpe.

Jasmine manages the planning, execution and monitoring of all marketing related activities. She works with her team to develop messaging and content focused around customer outcomes, working to raise the IMS profile and drive market engagement.

“I couldn’t imagine working for a company I wasn’t passionate about. IMS Evolve is an innovative and disruptive technology company that isn’t afraid to take chances and be different. We continuously strive to do the right thing for our customers, and it is a pleasure to market a product that actually delivers real value where it matters.”

With a view to building a strong presence within the food retail industry, Jasmine oversees IMS Evolve’s extensive PR strategy. She leverages the deep domain expertise within the business to drive thought leadership around areas such as energy efficiency, IoT, maintenance and food waste. Over the last few years, IMS Evolve has appeared widely across specialist trade titles, technology outlets, podcasts and major titles such as the Financial Times, The Economist and The Guardian.

“There is no such thing as a typical day in Marketing as every day is different. My day could consist of anything from calls with channel partners, reviewing PR content, speaking to industry analysts, presentation creation or strategic planning. The only three things that are an absolute constant feature in my day are replying to emails, drinking coffee and laughing. I genuinely work with the most inspiring group of people, and it makes every day – even the stressful ones – enjoyable.”

Jasmine would say she enjoys the little things in life rather than specific hobbies, such as dinner with friends or coffee from Starbucks. She also turns 30 this year, and she’s totally fine about it...
