With events season in full swing, we've distilled our key learnings into our latest blog post. Dive into our top ten tips for running a successful stand, maximising interactions, and handling follow-ups effectively!

It’s that time of the year again – the flowers are blooming, days are getting longer, and event season is here!

Last week, IMS exhibited at the Retail Technology Show, a bustling industry gathering at Olympia, London. Discussions were broad and exhibitors showcased a range of solutions and products including multiple applications of AI, innovative approaches to digital transformation, and creative POS displays.

With everything from giant holograms to customer tracking technology on display, there was a lot to digest. However, as an exhibitor there is the added pressure of running a successful stand, maximising interactions, and handling follow-ups effectively.

So, before your next show, read our top tips for trade show success!

1. Early Edge: Arrive early and fuel up for the day. Your booth will be your home throughout the event so familiarise yourself with your team, surroundings, display, and any tech demonstrators you have.

2.  Pitch Perfect: Focus on your visitors and tailor your pitch to their needs. There's nothing quite like the rush of realising you have the perfect solution to someone's problem.

3.  Curiosity Corner: Do your homework, know who you want to see, and have a set of questions ready to go. As an exhibitor, be prepared to field a variety of questions and know your product inside out.

4. Follow-Up Fast: It may be frowned upon when it comes to dating apps, but at trade shows, it's never too soon to follow up. Have a well-thought out lead capture process and plan in place that you can initiate quickly to nurture leads and grow relationships after the event.

5. Market Mastery: It’s not every day you're in a room with your target audience… and your competition. Take the opportunity to gather valuable market research. Insights can be invaluable for driving targeted marketing and product evolution.

6. Network, network, network: Take advantage of the opportunity to connect with other exhibitors and attendees, exchange contact information, and discuss potential collaborations. You never know who you might meet and what doors that might open.

7. Info and Inspiration: Attend workshops, seminars, and keynotes to gain insights into industry trends, best practices, and new technologies. Shows are a great place to get inspired so absorb as much as possible.

8.  Standout Stamina: Stay energised and organised. Throw yourself into the show and engage with conversations to maintain enthusiasm and draw people to your technology.

9.  Swag Seeker: Don’t leave empty-handed; walk the floor for your freebies! Consider how giveaways promote your business and attract your audience. It’s also fun to check out other businesses ideas -it's OK to take a quick break for a trip to the popcorn stand!

10. Share Success: Post-event, ensure that all information and leads are shared with the whole team. This ensures the event's success and allows for further discussion and action. And if you're feeling particularly inspired, why not write a blog about your experience?
